Lakes Creek Road, Rockhampton

Civil Engineering Design

HIG and SMEC have been engaged by TMR (Fitzroy) to undertake the design of WCLT treatment and the replacement of the existing Frenchmans Creek Bridge in a 60 hour window.  The short time frame is driven by the need to minimise disruption to Type 1 Road Train access to the abattoirs on the eastern side of the bridge.  With no alternate route to bypass Frenchmans Creek an innovative approach was required.  HIG’s role in this project is the deficiency assessment of the 2km section of Rockhampton – Emu Park Road,  WCLT design, signal / lighting design and co-ordination of PUP works.  The co-ordination of PUP relocation is critical to the successful delivery of this project.  This is the first time TMR has attempted to replace an entire bridge within such a short timeframe.
